At least 12-million people could lose jobless benefits without the bill. It also provides one-point-four-trillion-dollars for normal government funding. The bill has been sent to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where it awaits his decision.

The COVID Tracking Project reports that of the 119-thousand people hospitalized, 22-thousand are in the ICU. The project also reports that 15-hundred Americans lost their lives to the virus on Christmas Day. However, that number is probably too low, since 20 states didn’t report updates on Christmas.

(Vatican City) — Pope Francis is insisting that vaccines for the coronavirus be distributed to everyone. In his Christmas Day address, the Pope called the development of vaccines against the virus a light of hope in this dark year. However, he said it will only remain a light of hope for all people if they are available to everyone. He also urged countries to help each other because the challenge of the pandemic has no borders.

(Undated) — The U.S. Space Force and Japan’s Office of National Space Policy have signed a memorandum of understanding. Space Coast Daily says the memorandum signed earlier this month provides for the future launch of two U.S. payloads using Japan’s Quasi Zenith Satellite System. Two U.S. optical sensors will launch from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Center, one in 2023 and the other in 2024. The Space Force news release says the sensors will help to “secure capabilities ranging from GPS to communications satellites.”

(Undated) — Astronauts on the International Space Station beam a message of hope to humanity for Christmas. Space-dot-Com reported yesterday that the message sent in the form of several videos calls for humans to show resilience. The term is taken from the name of the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, Resilience, that brought four astronauts to the ISS in November. NASA Astronaut Victor Glover says, “The resilience of the human spirit is something we can truly celebrate in this special season.”
