A 45-year old Missouri man convicted in Fayette County Court in September of grooming and child pornography charges has been sentenced to time in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Shelby Weston appeared in court on Thursday for his sentencing hearing. Prior to the sentencing, a defense motion to continue sentencing was denied by Judge Kimberly Koester as was a motion to for relief. A defense motion to exclude testimony was granted before proceeding. Weston chose not to make a statement in allocution following the state presenting a victim impact statement. Koester then sentenced Weston to 5 years on Count 1 of traveling to meet a minor, 3 years in IDOC on Count 2 for grooming, 5 years in IDOC on Count 7 for possession of child pornography and 4 years of probation on Count 8 for possession of child pornography. All of the sentences will run consecutive to each other and Weston will receive credit for 1,365 days spent in the Fayette County Jail.
