Fayette County’s new case total for Tuesday equaled that of the previous three days together as the Fayette County Health Department reported 92 new positive COVID-19 cases yesterday. However, 77 of those new cases are linked to a congregate facility. At this time, the Vandalia Correctional Center has 176 offenders with confirmed active cases and 23 staff with active cases. The Department of Corrections website lists VCC as having 61 staff recoveries and 303 offender recoveries. Fayette County is now at 2,410 total cases and 41 deaths.
The Marion County Health Department reported 30 new positive cases in its Tuesday COVID-19 update. Marion County is now at a total of 2,588 positive cases and 89 deaths. Marion County’s overall positivity rate is 7.0% and the county currently has 352 active positive cases and 342 people currently in isolation. Total recoveries for Marion County are now 2,147 to this point.
The Effingham County Health Department reported 29 new positive COVID-19 cases and 2 additional deaths for Tuesday. The county’s 7-day rolling positivity rate dropped over a percent on Tuesday, down to 17.1% for the time period through December 12.
The Montgomery County Health Department reports 27 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Overall, Montgomery County has seen 1,407 positive cases and 18 COVID-19 related deaths. Montgomery County has tested 37,479.
Shelby County reported 11 new positive COVID-19 cases for Tuesday. Shelby County has 99 active cases at this time and has an overall total of 1570 cases along with 29 deaths.
