The Ramsey School District has now learned of a total of 3 positive COVID-19 tests within their district.
In a letter on Sunday from Ramsey Superintendent of Schools Melissa Ritter, it states the Fayette County Health Department notified them of a positive COVID-19 case within their district on Friday. And, on Friday evening after the close of business, they were contacted and informed by a family of an additional positive case within the district. Ritter also says the FCHD will be reporting to them the 3rd positive case today.
Ritter says they immediately began the mitigation efforts and found that the COVID-19 positive individuals within their district had not been in their buildings since Wednesday, August 26th, then staff members and students who were identified to have had prolonged close contact to the COVID-19 cases will now being in quarantine for 14 days. Ritter says they also conducted a deep clean and disinfection of the areas impacted over the weekend while students were not in attendance. Ritter says they will continue to require all students wear face coverings, continue efforts to maintain social distancing and hand hygiene practices and educate individuals to monitor symptoms and to stay home if symptoms develop.
Ritter also says the current situation of 3 positive cases does meet the definition of an outbreak according to the CDC. Ritter says they continue to coordinate their efforts with the Fayette County Health Department to prevent further spread with the school and community. And, she says that due to students not being in attendance on Friday and the direction of the Fayette County Health Department, school is going on as scheduled today.
