(Baltimore, MD) — The U.S. now has the world’s highest death toll from the coronavirus. Over 20-thousand Americans have lost their lives and over half a million have been infected by the virus. Worldwide, nearly one-point-eight million people are infected and almost 109-thousand have died. Second behind the U.S. is Italy, with a death toll of about 19-thousand.

(Washington, DC) — All 50 states are now under a disaster declaration for the first time in U.S. history because of COVID-19. President Trump granted Wyoming’s request for the declaration on Saturday because of the pandemic. Most U.S. territories have also asked for, and been granted, a major disaster declaration. The only exception is American Somoa.

(Washington, DC) — The IRS says the first round of stimulus checks are being deposited in taxpayers’ bank accounts. The Internal Revenue Service made the announcement on social media Saturday, saying they “know many people are anxious to get their payments; we’ll continue issuing them as fast as we can.” The average American who made less than 75-thousand-dollars can expect to receive 12-hundred dollars.

(San Jose, CA) — A church in northern California is holding Easter services today at a drive-in movie theater. Pastor Micaiah Irmler told a local news affiliate his Southridge Church congregation in San Jose will be “practicing social distancing, not spiritual distancing.” The church is offering four different service times for the Easter celebration at the outdoor facilities in San Jose. Pastor Irmler says everyone will remain inside their vehicles which will be parked six-feet away from the nearest neighbor. The service will be broadcast on an FM radio frequency.

(Undated) — The southeastern U.S. is bracing for possible tornadoes today. Forecasters say warm, unstable air from the Gulf of Mexico could cause flash flooding, hail, damaging wind gusts and possible tornadoes, from mid-morning through tonight. The highest tornado risk will be in the Mid-South from Louisiana to Kentucky. The severe weather threat will continue on Monday, when the storms are expected to roll toward the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic.
