Towler’s full statement—-
My name is Ashley Towler. I am 31 years old and I am a lifelong resident of Fayette County. My first thoughts of running for office go back to my time of working in the Circuit Clerk’s Office under Mary Sue Ruot. My interest in legal services took me from the Clerk’s Office to Taylor Law Offices where I worked as a legal assistant for two years. I have been employed as the secretary at Brownstown Jr-Sr High School for the past five years. I believe that my combined experience in the legal field and serving the public have prepared me to take on the responsibility of being the next Fayette County Circuit Clerk.
One of my greatest assets is that I care. I care about the county and the future of our community. I care about how we are represented as people by our county government. I want to be able to take pride in our government. I want to know that our elected leaders serve the people, help those who come to the courthouse, take their job seriously and strive to do a good job. I want the courthouse to be what it used to be, a place where offices and office holders worked together, regardless of political party. My mother, Terri Braun, set a wonderful example of what county government can be and what it should be. I hope I have learned at least some of her lessons and will be able to take her commitment forward into the next generation.
I am a graduate of Vandalia High School (class of 2002) and earned my associate’s degree from Kaskaskia College. I have been married to my husband, Chad Towler, for 7 years and we have two sons, Freddie (age 4), and Adrian (age 1).
