Fayette Co Sheriff’s Office arrest individual after chase

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a chase of an individual who was eventually arrested on Illinois Route 185.  Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says the incident began with an individual allegedly involved in theft.  Sheriff Smith says the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the chase which went from Vandalia to Illinois Route 185 to Lakewood Drive.  Sheriff Smith says they used spike strips when the vehicle came back out to Route 185.  He says the suspect then had flat and slid off in a ditch and was arrested.  Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says his officers handled the report at Vandalia Wal-Mart but were not involved in the chase.  We will have more details coming up tomorrow during NewsCenter.
