A Vandalia woman and a Colorado man have each been charged with felony burglary stemming from a January 5 incident at the Ramada Inn on Vandalia. 26-year old Andrew C. Anderson of Alamosa, Colorado and 34-year old Melissa A. Guffey of Vandalia have each been charged with two counts of felony burglary as information for each states that Anderson and Guffey or one for whom they are responsible allegedly “without authority, knowingly entered the office of Nalini Patel, inside the Ramada Inn, located at 2707 Veterans Avenue, Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois, with the intent to commit therein a theft.” Each of the two counts that Anderson and Guffey have been charged with are Class 2 felonies that are punishable by three to seven years in prison. Anderson was released on $10,000 recognizance bond and will make his first appearance in court with public defender William Starnes on February 5 at 9am. Guffey was released on $10,000 recognizance bond and is set to make her first appearance in court with counsel Alicia Granito on February 5 at 9am.
