Helen E. Merriman, 91, of Fillmore, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at her home, Fillmore, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ramsey, IL, with Father Scott Snider, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Ramsey, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. She was born January 10, 1928, in Ramsey, IL, the daughter of Martin Bernard & Sara Jane (Bergin) Otto. Married Russell Burwin “Bur” Merriman on May 8, 1948, Ramsey, IL. She was a Retired Teacher at Knowles Country 1-Room Schoolhouse; Homemaker; Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society, Ramsey, IL, and received the Women of Distinction award from the Springfield Diocese Council for Catholic Women. Helen was an active member with the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Women’s Association; American Legion Auxiliary of Fayette County; and past member of the Montgomery Home Extension Fillmore Group.
She is survived by: Husband – Russell “Bur” Merriman, Fillmore, IL; Sons – Larry Merriman & Anita, Ramsey, IL, Mark Merriman & Jan, Fillmore, IL and Steve Merriman & Lisa, Vandalia, IL; Daughters – Brenda Cline & Mike, Joliet, MT, Cathy Manning & Brent, Pawnee, IL and Carol Eickhoff & Danny, Hillsboro, IL; 10 Grandchildren; and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Brother – Richard Otto; and Twin Great Grandchildren – Emma & Ella.
