The extreme heat and humidity will continue today and tomorrow across the area. We’re looking at sunny skies for today with a high of 95 and heat index values as high as 109 for today. And, Sunday will see a high of 93 with heat index values of 106. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says in their daily Situation Report the heat wave will continue thru Sunday before a cold front will bring relief to the area. Then, there will be a chance of strong to severe storms on Sunday afternoon and evening with the biggest threat being damaging wind gusts. The NWS also add the highest heat index values will be in the late afternoon.
