(Harrisburg, IL) — Governor Rauner is opposed to legalizing recreational marijuana, which is an issue that a group of Illinois lawmakers began to investigate this week. Rauner told WSIL-TV in Harrisburg that legalization at this point would be a mistake. He says he’d rather wait for the results of what he called the “massive human experiment” going on now in Colorado, California and other places where pot is legal. Despite the possibility of a revenue windfall for the state, Rauner says he wants to see how legal pot is affecting addiction rates, especially among young people.
