
Vivian Ruby Schmid, 87, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at her home in Vandalia, IL.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 20, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Brad Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: St. James Lutheran Church, Fayette County Hospice, or Donor’s Choice. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 14, 1937, in Ramsey, IL, the daughter of Rheuben Washburn & Virginia (Harris) Carson. She married Allen Henry Schmid on April 17, 1960, in Ramsey, IL. She worked as a secretary at the Ramsey Bank and then later the First National Bank. She then worked at Old Capitol Gas Company. She attended Union Christian Church in Ramsey when she was young, and later was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL.
She is survived by: Husband – Allen Henry Schmid, Vandalia, IL; Son – Mark Schmid & Tracy, Auburn, IL; Daughter – Glori Campbell & Tim, Vandalia, IL; Grand Child – Christopher Schmid & Sarah, Beth Hawk & JJ, Marissa Snyder & Caleb, Matthew Campbell, and Ashley Berola & Connor; 7 Great Grandchildren; Sisters – Ruth Brackenbush and Mary Catherine White, both of Vandalia, IL; Step-Sister – Susan Johns & Lee, Stella, NC; Step-Brothers – William Kelly & Jane, Owensville, IN and David Kelly & Rose, Ramsey, IL.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Step-Mother – Lila Carson Timmons; 3 Step-Brothers and 1 Step-Sister; Several Brothers and Sisters-In-Law.
