Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan’s corruption trial is approaching the four-month mark.
Jury deliberations are scheduled to resume Friday at a trial which began with jury selection on October 8th.
U.S. Attorney John Lausch announced the indictment in March of 2022. Lausch said the counts allege that Madigan led a criminal enterprise for nearly a decade.
Lausch announced 22 counts that day. A 23rd count was added later. Codefendant Michael McClain is facing six counts.
The jury began deliberating on January 29th.
