The Vandalia School District dealt with a bus accident on Thursday afternoon.
Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says that Bus 16 was running it’s regular route on Thursday afternoon, taking students home for the day. Dr. Garrison says, after reviewing the bus camera, it shows that about 3:47 pm a truck was seen coming towards the bus and lost control and hit the front of the bus. Dr. Garrison says they are thankful their bus driver, Scott Wright, had quick response time and she says immediately radioed the incident to the transportation director and also checking on the two students that remained on the bus within moments.
Dr. Garrison goes on to state that first responders were dispatched to the scene and evaluated the two students, the drivers, and the passengers in the vehicle.
Dr. Garrison says they are happy there were no serious injuries and they are very grateful for their bus driver’s swift action, the first responders, and the school staff that assisted in the incident.
