The Vandalia School District dealt with what looks to be a “Swatting” call this morning.
Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Garrison says the threat at 8:05 this morning was a phone call there were pipe bombs around the school and a threat of violence. Dr. Garrison says the School Resource Officer immediately responded and contacted Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray and Fayette County Sheriff Ronnie Stevens. They then contacted the Illinois State Police and the FBI. Dr. Garrison says authorities swept the areas around the schools and found nothing suspicious.
In a message to parents, Dr. Garrison informed them they could pick up their students they wanted to but they were otherwise going to resume a regular school day.
