The number have been release from the 2nd weekend of the Firearm Deer Hunting season in Illinois and Fayette County and all area counties are up over last year’s numbers.
Overall the state harvesting 82,496 deer during the 2 weekends of the season. That is up from 76,494 deer taken last year.
As for Fayette County, there were 1,298 deer taken in the first weekend of the season and another 669 taken in the 2nd weekend for a total of 1,967 deer harvested. That is up from 1,683 last year. Meanwhile, Fayette County had the 6th highest total of any county in the state–trailing only Randolph, Adams, Fulton, Jackson and Jefferson Counties.
As for other area counties—
Bond County saw 594 taken in the first weekend and 274 in the second weekend for a total of 868 which is up from 763 last year.
Effingham County saw 763 deer harvested during the first weekend and 365 during the second weekend for a total of 1,128 and that is up from 947 a year ago.
Montgomery County hunters took 707 deer in the first weekend and 353 in the second weekend for a total of 1,060. That is up from 869 a year ago.
Marion County harvested 1,272 in the first weekend and 551 in the second weekend for a total of 1,823. That is up from 1,669 last year.
