Although there was little on the ballot to vote on, Fayette County voters turned out for the November General Election in solid numbers.
Fayette County saw 70% voter turnout for the Election. There were a total of 9,600 ballots cast in the county—6,128 of those on Election Day, 2,395 in early voting and 527 voted by mail.
In the vote for President, Fayette County voters were decidedly for former President Donald Trump. Trump took 7,798 votes or 81% of the vote while Vice-President Kamala Harris took 1,606 votes or 16% of the vote in Fayette County. Independent Robert F. Kennedy, Junior received 118 votes. Harris was the winner for the State of Illinois.
There were no other contested races in Fayette County. Voters turned out to vote for Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller on the federal side and Republicans State Senator Jason Plummer and State Representative Blaine Wilhour on the state side. All 3 were re-elected as they ran unopposed.
As for Fayette County, the Republican candidates for county-wide office all ran unopposed and were re-elected. Circuit Clerk Kathy Emerick, State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis, Coroner David Harris and Supervisor of Assessments Ryan Parks all will be sworn in for another term in December.
The Fayette County Board saw three candidates on the ballot run unopposed for another term. Republicans Joe Wills in District 1, Ryan Ray Tompkins in District 4 and Michael Black in District 5 all were voted in as they ran unopposed. There were no candidates running in Districts 2, 3, 6 and 7.
