Fayette County voters said Yes to 2 out of 3 of the non-binding referendum on the ballot in Tuesday’s Election.
On the question of “Should any candidate appearing on the Illinois Ballot for Federal, State, or local office be subject to civil penalties if the candidate interferes or attempts to interfere with an election worker’s official duties” Fayette County voters voted yes. 7,646 or 82% voted Yes while 1,633 or 17% voted No.
On the question of “Should the Illinois Constitution be amended to create an additional 3% tax on income greater than one million dollars for the purpose of dedicated funds raised to property taxes” Fayette County voters said No. 5,270 or 56% said No with 3,981 or 43% voting Yes.
And, on the question of “Should all medically appropriate assisted reproductive treatments, including, but not limited to, in vitro fertilization, be covered by any health insurance plan in Illinois that provides coverage of pregnancy benefits, without limitation on the number of treatments” Fayette County voters said Yes. 5,078 or 55% voted Yes with 4,123 or 44% voting No.
The three questions were non-binding so they are not tied to any legislation or official changes.
