A key witness in the ComEd Four bribery case last year has taken the stand at the corruption trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
Former ComEd executive Fidel Marquez said he cooperated with the government after pleading guilty to bribery charges in 2020. Marquez also admitted to lying on an application to purchase a firearm earlier this year.
Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Collins prosecuted the corruption case which led to the conviction of former Illinois Governor George Ryan in 2006.
Collins said he did not see Marquez as a star witness in the trial of Madigan and McClain.
Earlier Tuesday, former precinct captain Joe Lullo testified about Madigan’s 13th Ward organization in Chicago.
