Illinois voters have a non-binding question on the ballot about taxing millionaires more to fund a property tax relief fund.
One of the three advisory questions on the November 5th ballot asks if the Illinois constitution should change to charge anyone making more than $1 million an additional 3% surcharge to raise revenue for property tax relief. Former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn testified to a recent Illinois House Committee how much he’s gathered such a move could bring.
After the non-binding questions was approved for the ballot in the Illinois House in May, State Representative Blaine Wilhour said there are other ways to get property tax relief Democrats ignore.
Illinois as the 2nd highest property taxes in the nation.
