Misty Dawn Smith was born September 11, 1975, in Breese, IL, the daughter of Milton Smith and Nancy Harkins Smith. She married Danny Joe Quick October 21, 2016; sharing nearly 8 years of marriage together.
Misty was a Direct Support Professional (DSP) working at the Fayco House and Randolph House in Vandalia. She was more than a caregiver; she was an inspiration to others.
Misty fought cancer courageously until the very end; never missing a treatment and outliving the life expectancy she was given in 2021.
She was loving, patient, and brave, all qualities many would strive to be. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; you did not have to be related by blood to be considered family.
Misty will be forever missed by her husband, Danny Quick of Vandalia; parents, Nancy and husband Larry Shonk of Centralia and Milton Smith with Cathy Johnstone of Mulberry Grove; daughter, Kayla and husband Glen Hazzard Jr. of Fillmore; son, David “DJ” Zanchetti III and wife Harlie of Glasgow, KY; stepson, Chase Quick and wife Ariel of Effingham; grandchildren, Carley Goff, Aurora Quick, Ellison Zanchetti, Calliope Quick, Elijah Zanchetti, and Aubree Quick; sisters, Rachel Jarrett, Jennifer and husband Chuck Gause, Casey Washington, and Ashley Smith; mother-in-law, Billie Quick of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Lori Griffin; brothers-in-law, Pat Guiot and wife Michelle and Randy Quick and wife Beverly; numerous nieces and nephews; several extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Burle and Mildred Smith, Barbara Ann Littlejohn, and John Harkins; one brother, Danny Jarrett II; and father-in-law, George Quick.
