(Chicago, IL) — A U.S. Supreme Court ruling could impact multiple corruption cases in Chicago. The high court ruled yesterday that a federal bribery statute doesn’t ban “gratuities” to public officials. The decision could upend key corruption cases, including the October trial of ex-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and the case of the “ComEd Four,” who were convicted of a scheme to bribe Madigan. The judge in the “ComEd Four” has set a July 9th hearing to discuss next steps in the case.
