Vandalia was held to just two runs on three hits in a 4-2 loss to Litchfield in South Central Conference action on Friday. Vandalia struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice by Andrew Casey that brought Aydan Jones in to score and give the Vandals a 1-0 lead. Litchfield would answer the Vandals with a run of their own in the top of the third to tie the game up at 1-1. The teams would hold each other scoreless through the fourth and fifth before the Panthers would get their offense moving in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs to extend their lead to 4-1. Down to their final three outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Vandals got a one out walk from Jack Lewis who would advance to second on an error by the Litchfield catcher and then move to third when the Litchfield pitcher was called for a balk. With the runner at third, Qwentyn Stombaugh ground out, but came through with the RBI as Lewis came in to score and cut the Litchfield lead to 4-2. A strikeout would end the game though as the Vandals would fall 4-2.
