Paul Kent Miller, age 59, of Vandalia, IL, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at SBL Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2024 at Unity Baptist Church, Vandalia, IL with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at McInturff Cemetery, Rural Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, four hours prior to the service at the church. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL is in charge of arrangements. Kent was born March 3, 1964 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Ruby “Pat” Miller and Bernard Farero. He married Mona Elam on August 9, 1997, spending 27 loving years together.
Kent graduated from Assumption High School in 1982 and worked at GSI for 30 years where he excelled as Special Projects Manager. He spent time as the president of Shoal Creek Abate, as well as, a Mason, Shriner, and Moose member.
Kent is described by everyone that knew him as giving, kind, and creative with a smile and laugh as big as he was. A man with a brilliant mind who could create things only he could dream up. He is the definition of “one of a kind”.
Kent was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, and father to his three children. As well as, an amazing pawpaw to his grandchildren. He loved his family deeply and was proud of their accomplishments.
He loved his friends and is considered by most as a brother. He enjoyed spending his free time with his wife and friends at Timber Trails Campground, in his shed creating, and vacationing in Dauphin Island.
Kent is survived by his wife, Mona Miller of Vandalia; daughter, Jade Miller of Vandalia; sons, John Miller of Brownstown and Jackson Miller of Vandalia; grandchildren, Nora and Oliver Miller of Brownstown; brothers, Gaylen Miller and wife, Carol and Mark Miller and wife, Robin all of Assumption; sisters, Sue Larson of Effingham and Becky Dillander of Kentucky; brother, Bernard Farero of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother.
