Michael C. “Mike” Fisher, 62, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 11:45 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Per Mike’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations may be made to Warrior Nation Cancer Foundation or to Friends & Families of Fayette County Hospital. Michael Clay Fisher was born on October 28, 1961, in Tulsa, OK, the son of Leon Revis and Dorothy Lee (Tarpley) Fisher. He Married Lugene Kay Brazle, later divorcing, but sharing many years of companionship.
Mike retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections, Vandalia Correctional Center. He was truly one of a kind. Mike lived all of life’s great experiences to the fullest. He had an avid love for jet skiing; where he could take in all of nature’s beauty, listening to music, and of course, playing his tambourine’s.
Mike was a proud Military Veteran; having served in the United States Army Airborne. He was a member of the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95 and V.F.W. Post #3862. Mike was also a member of the Vandalia Moose Lodge Post # 1447.
He is survived by his companion, Lugene Fisher of Vandalia; brother, Ernie Fisher and wife Yana of Belmont, MA; step-daughter, Amanda and husband Jimmy Bone of Greenville; step-son, Andy Wehrle and wife Ginger of Vandalia; grandchildren, Bailey, Emma, Laynee, and Kage; and numerous friends.
