South Central picked a win in their fall baseball season opener, beating Christ Our Rock Lutheran 4-2 on Wednesday. After two scoreless innings, the Cougars hit the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the 3rd on a sacrifice fly from Brody Markley to score Callaway Smith for a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Cougars would get back to work offensively in the fifth inning. Markley would put down a bunt for a single and score Ca. Smith to make it 2-0 South Central. With runners are second and third, C Bursott would reach base on an error with H Moore scoring to push the Cougar lead to 3-0. South Central then added another run on in the top of the 6th inning on a sacrifice fly from Coen West that would score Ca. Smith for a 4-0 lead. CORL would come back with two runs in the bottom of the 6th to cut the Cougar lead to 4-2, but South Central would hold the Stallions scoreless in the 7th to close out the win. South Central will be back in action on Friday when they host Ramsey for a 7pm game.
