We continue to hear more today from local law enforcement and prosecutors on no cash bail, which is now set to begin in the State of Illinois on September 18th.
Fayette County State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis says she knows this will be a strain on her office and also on the judicial system. But, she knows it will also be a strain on citizens, especially victims.
Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says he believes no cash bail is something that may have a better purpose in larger areas, just not a great idea here.
The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that no cash bail will now begin in Illinois on September 18th after a long court battle. We will hear more coming up tomorrow.
