Altamont incoming senior Dillan Elam went four innings but did not factor in the decision as the Illinois Braves 2024 (17U) fell 4-3 to the Illinois Dodgers Scout Team 18U in their first game of pool play at the Play 9 Normal Elite Series tournament on Friday. Elam gave up just two runs on 6 hits while walking three and striking out four in his four innings of work before exiting the game with the Braves leading 3-2. The Dodgers would score two runs in the top of the fifth to take the 4-3 lead and hold one to beat the Braves. Recent Altamont graduate Mason Robinson would man centerfield for the Braves in the loss and would have a tough game at the plate going 0-3 with a pair of groundouts and a flyout.
On Saturday, the Braves will play two more pool play games, taking on Rhino Baseball 18U Tehako at 9:00am with Robinson set to be one of two pitchers in the rotation for the game. The Braves will then face Xtreme Heat 17U at 11:25am.
