The spring baseball season came to a close for South Central today.
The South Central Cougars lost, 6 to 1, to Effingham St. Anthony today in the Class 1A Sectional Championship at Altamont. South Central got on the board first with a run in the top of the 1st inning. Chase Thompson reached base on a hit by pitch and was able to come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Magnus later in the inning. St. Anthony tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd. It stayed 1-1 until the bottom of the 4th when St. Anthony’s Brock Fearday hit what was a controversial Home Run to right-center field. St. Anthony added 3 runs in the 5th and one more in the 6th to come away with the 6 to 1 win. The Cougars struggled offensively on the day drawing 5 walks but ending up with just 2 hits on the day. For South Central, their season ends with a record of 25-7.
