Wednesday proved to be a day of changes for many golfers on the Black Course at Swan Lake Resort for Round 2 of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship. Former Vandalia golf standout and current Heartland Community College golfer Chase Laack dropped nine spots on the Individual Leaderboard for the Championships but remains in the top 15 as he is currently tied for 13th with four other golfers. Laack bogeyed his first hole of the day before shooting even par over the next seven holes and then wrapping up the front 9 with a bogey on the 9th hole to be 2 over par thru the first nine holes. After the turn, Laack faced a rough back 9 with two bogeys, one double bogey and a birdie to finish the round at 5 over par with a 77. That gives Laack a two round total of 145 leading into the third round of play on Thursday.
As a team, the Heartland Hawks dropped two spots on the team leaderboard, going from 5th place after the first round down to a tie for 7th place with a team score of 21 over par 597 being 1 under par for the first round and 22 over par for the second round. The third round of the National Championship will continue today with the first golfers beginning to tee off at 7:00am.
