Vandalia baseball opened up South Central Conference play with a 6-1 win on the road at Staunton on Friday. The Vandals scored three runs in both the top of the first and second innings and then held the Bulldogs scoreless until the sixth inning as they rode their early offense to the win. Reid Well was able to scatter seven hits around during his 7 innings of work on the mound to get the win for the Vandals as he gave up just one run and recorded 4 strikeouts. Carson Lotz and Matthew Hagy each had 2 hits and a RBI in the game. Vandalia is now 4-4 on the season and 1-0 in the SCC.
