Illinois House Republicans are proposing new ethics reform bills. At a news conference on Thursday, the bills were discussed. State Representative Blaine Wilhour lays out the different pieces of legislation and their intentions.
Also discussed during the news conference was the fact the Illinois Supreme Court set to hear arguments on the SAFE-T act next week. And, this comes just after it was brought out in the news that Governor J.B. Pritzker, who signed the SAFE-T act into law, was the top donor for two Illinois Supreme Court Justice campaigns, donated a total of $2 million to then-candidates Mary K. O’Brien and Elizabeth Rochford. The Governor signed a law that capped contribution limits in such campaigns to $500,000 from “any single person.” But, Governor Pritzker gave half a million dollars from both his political campaign and his trust. Wilhour talks about that issue.
The gun and magazine ban case will also be before the Illinois Supreme Court, where Governor Pritzker will be the top defendant.
