(Chicago, IL) — The State of Illinois is honoring a Chicago Police Officer killed in the line of duty last week. Flags have been lowered throughout the state to remember Officer Andrés Mauricio Vásquez Lasso. They will remain at half staff until sunset Thursday. Officer Vazquez Lasso was shot and killed last Wednesday after responding to a call of a man chasing a woman down the street with a gun on the city’s Southwest Side. Steven Montano faces multiples charges including first-degree murder in the shooting.
