The Vandalia City Council on Monday approved TIF funds for the purchase and renovation of a downtown building, in hopes of turning it into a restaurant.
This past Thursday, the TIF Advisory Committee met and heard from Shelley Ledbetter, who told the committee she is interested in purchasing the building at 615 W. Gallatin Street and opening a restaurant in that location. Ledbetter told the committee she is wanting to turn the building in a similar restaurant to the one she formerly managed, which was the former Willy’s Drive Inn at 710 W. Orchard in Vandalia. The TIF Advisory Committee recommended to the Vandalia City Council for 25% of the acquisition costs, 25% of the interior renovation and allotting $5,000 for repair of the furnace for a total of $23,625 in TIF Funds.
At their meeting on Monday, the Vandalia City Council approved the recommendation from the committee for a total of $23,625—or 25% of the total for the acquisition and renovation.
