The Altamont Indians got their offense going early and would tack on some late insurance runs to get a big 14-4 win over Dieterich in National Trail Conference baseball action on Friday. After getting out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st only to be matched by Dieterich in the bottom half of the inning, the Indians would put up 5 runs in the 2nd to take a 7-0 lead. Dieterich would again answer but could only cut the Altamont lead down to 7-4. That would prove to be the only offense Altamont needed but the Indians did add another run in the 4th inning, four more in the 6th inning and two in the 7th to ride out the 14-4 win. Jared Hammer got the win on the mound going 6 innings and allowing just 4 runs on 4 hits while striking out 5. Nathan Stuemke would lead the Indians offensively going 3-4 on the day with 3 runs scored and an RBI with Wyatt Phillips also in the mix going 2-3 with 3 RBI and a run scored. Altamont is now 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in the NTC. They will be back home on Tuesday to take on Windsor/Stew-Stras as they will look to avenge one of their two losses on the season after they fell to WSS 3-1 in their first meeting on August 27.
