(Chicago, IL) — Former Illinois Senator Thomas Cullerton will spend time in federal prison for fraudulently receiving salary and benefits from a labor union. The 52-year-old from Villa Park was sentenced yesterday to one year behind bars after pleading guilty earlier this year to embezzlement. He admitted to pocketing more than 248-thousand-dollars in salary and benefits from the Teamsters union despite doing little or no work. Cullerton must report to prison on September 13th.
