
The 2025 Illinois Governor’s Volunteer Service Award winners included a Retired Senior Volunteer Program volunteer from Vandalia, IL.
David Rickman was the recipient of the Outstanding AmeriCorps Senior award for Region 5 – Southern Illinois. Rickman was recognized for the time, energy, and heart he’s given to those in need in our community.
Among his many contributions, Rickman regularly volunteers at the CEFS Outreach and Food Pantry, the National Road Interpretive Center, and the Vandalia Community School District #203.
Organized by the Illinois Department of Human Services and Service Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, these awards recognize individual volunteers through a statewide award program to highlight the importance of volunteerism and community service in the State of Illinois.
The celebration of service, commitment, and dedication was held in Chicago, Illinois on April 24, 2025 at the South Shore Cultural Center.
