(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senator Dick Durbin won’t be seeking re-election next year. The Illinois Democrat announced that “it’s time to pass the torch” after serving five terms in the Senate and seven terms in the House. The East St. Louis native is the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate. Durbin was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996.
