A South Central School Bus caught fire this morning, but swift action by the bus driver kept everyone safe.
Fayette County Sheriff Ronnie Stevens says they got the call around 7 am this morning. It was a South Central School Bus and there were 7 students on board. As the bus driver was stopped at the stop sign and ready to turn onto Illinois Route 185 they noticed windows steaming up and had everyone evacuate the bus and the students went to a neighbors home just to the north. Both St. Peter and Farina Fire Departments responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. Sheriff Stevens says the bus was a total loss.
