There are some issues with the elevator at the Fayette County Courthouse that could be costly and could take months to repair.
At Thursday’s Fayette County Board Meeting, Board member and Public Building Commission Chair Mack Payne said that Fayette County Sheriff Ronnie Stevens had informed him of issues with the elevator. He says they are still gathering information, but with the delay time in getting such parts it could be 6 to 8 months before the elevator was fixed and the repairs could also potentially be very expensive. The elevator is used for getting inmates to and from the upstairs courtroom and also used for anyone with physical issues that need to go to upstairs but are not able to do so on the stairs.
