(Springfield, IL) — The trial of the former Sangamon County Sheriff’s deputy charged in the killing of Sonya Massey last year is being moved to Peoria County. The decision was announced yesterday after Sean Grayson’s lawyers filed a motion saying they don’t believe he can get a fair trial in Sangamon County. Grayson is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of the 36-year-old Black woman last July inside her home in an unincorporated neighborhood of Springfield. No trial date has been set.
