
The Vandalia City Council approves using Tourism dollars for repairs to the Caboose on Johnson Street.
During Monday’s meeting, Mayor Rick Gottman told the City Council he and Alderman Bret Brosman had spoken about the needed work on the caboose.

Audio PlayerThe $10,800 would breakdown as $4,000 for sandblasting, $3,600 for paint, $1,200 for lettering and $2,000 for miscellaneous supplies. Up to now, the repairs on the 85 year old caboose have been just generated through donations. Mayor Gottman did also add that Alderman Brosman would oversee the use of the funds, which will come during the 2025-26 budget year.
