(Chicago, IL) — A trial begins today for State Senator Emil Jones the third. The Chicago Democrat faces federal bribery charges accusing him of taking money from a red-light camera company executive to kill legislation requiring traffic studies for automated camera systems. He is also accused of lying to federal agents the matter. It is the first case from the sweeping federal investigation centered on red-light cameras installed by SafeSpeed to go before a jury. Jones is the son of former Illinois Senate President Emil Jones Junior.
