Although it is often said the most important elections are the local ones, voters don’t show that in their turnout.
In Fayette County, a total of 3,449 ballots were cast in the Consolidated Election—for just 25% voter turnout.
To break it down, 2,624 ballots were cast on Election Day, there were 512 votes by individuals voting early and 313 votes by mail.
No precinct in Fayette County saw even 50% voter turnout in the election. The highest voter turnout was in Sefton Township with 42% voter turnout while Otego, Vandalia 2 and Vandalia 5 had the lowest voter turnout at just 19%.
