Severe Storms to hit area this afternoon/this evening

Severe Storms are set to hit the area again this afternoon and this evening.

Today’s weather forecast says we’ll see showers and storms this afternoon and this evening with a high of 74.  Winds from the south will gust better than 45 miles per hour today.  And, showers and storms will be with us tonight with a low of 51.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis says severe thunderstorms are expected across parts of the area this afternoon and evening. While most areas will have at least some potential to see severe storms, the highest probability of severe storms and the greatest coverage will be across southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois. Damaging wind, large hail, and tornadoes will all be possible, with potential for baseball sized hail and strong (EF2+ tornadoes). It’s also important to note that not ALL of these areas will see severe storms, and there is some uncertainty regarding the extent of the greatest threat area.
