
For the first time in over 2 decades, the City of Vandalia will have a new Mayor.
In Tuesday’s election, voters elected Doug Knebel as the next Mayor of the City of Vandalia, as he defeated fellow challenger Bobby Pate, Junior. Knebel says he is very appreciative to the voters for their support.
Audio PlayerAnd, although he won’t take over officially as Mayor until the first City Council meeting in May, Knebel says the work will begin now.
Audio PlayerKnebel will take over from outgoing Mayor Rick Gottman, who did not seek re-election and will finish his 6th term in office as the longest serving Mayor in the City’s history.
As for the Vandalia City Council, the makeup will stay the same after all 3 incumbents won their contested races on Tuesday. In Ward 2, Kenny Lewey won a very close race with challenger Amber Daulbaugh, in Ward 3 the City’s longest serving Alderman Mike Hobler defeated Chuck Fitch and in Ward 4 Andy Lester was re-elected, defeating Jeremy Curll.
