GOP says Republican Legislator being cut off shows Democrat’s stranglehold on Debate in Springfield

A Republican Illinois State Legislator says being cut off during a point of person privilege is evidence of the Democratic party’s stranglehold on public discourse.

Early in the House session on Tuesday in Springfield, Democratic State Representative Hoan Huynh stood up to criticize the Trump administration’s end to diversity, equity and inclusion in the military.

Republican State Representative Jeff Keicher rose to lodge a complaint about the lack of decorum and was cut off by the Speaker, telling him they had to move on.  He was later allowed to finish his point.

Illinois Republicans are in the super minority in the Statehouse.  They criticize the majority party for blocking Republican ideas they say will grow the state’s economy.
