A man has been charged with Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault and Predatory Criminal Sexual Abuse in Fayette County Court.
44 year old Damon L. Gillett faces one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, which is a Class X Felony. Information on the charge says that Gillett is alleged to have committed a sexual act with an individual under 13 years of age on or between the dates of August 2nd of 2020 and February 24th of 2021.
Gillett is also charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, which is a Class 2 Felony. Information on the charges say that Gillett is alleged to have committed an act of sexual conduct against an individual under 13 years of age. The alleged incidents were between February 1st of 2020 through August 1st of 2020, August 2nd of 2020 through February 24th of 2021 and February 25th of 2021 through August 2nd of 2021.
In Fayette County Court on Tuesday, the court found said that Gillett was a danger to the public as well as the alleged victim and pre-trial release was denied. Also, Gillett was arrested in Kansas and was said to be classified as homeless so the court said the likelihood of flight to avoid prosecution was found. Gillett will next appear in Fayette County Court for a pre-trial hearing on April 16th at 9 am.
