
Billy R. Hoffman, 85, of Vandalia, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Caswell officiating. Interment will follow in Evans Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Billy Ross Hoffman was born on April 19, 1939 in Vandalia, IL, the son of Elvin and Audrey (Tedrick) Hoffman. He married the love of his life, Patricia Mae Lewis on May 28, 1960. Together, they raised two children and celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage before her passing on March 31, 2022.
Billy was employed by Caterpillar Inc. as a machinist, retiring after 30 years. He was a simple man who had an avid love for farming and raising livestock. Most of all, he cherished the time he shared with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, David Hoffman and wife Tanya of Vandalia; daughter, Teresa and husband James Fox of Plainfield; brother, Delbert Hoffman of Vandalia; sister, Janet McCain of Vandalia grandchildren, Ryan Roggelin, Justin Roggelin, Brennen Hoffman, Catti Hoffman, Kaven Hoffman; nieces, Barbara Gallagher, Sandra Shockey, Mary Ann Wiley and Cindy Lewis.
Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Wayne Hoffman and wife Beverly; sister, Carolyn and husband Floyd McCain; brother-in-law, Donald McCain; brother-in-law, Michael Lewis and wife Nancy; nephews, Kevin Hoffman, Clifford Hoffman, and Timothy Lewis.
