
It will be a wild weather day today.
We have a chance of scattered showers and storms this afternoon with a high of 72. Winds from the south will gust up to 49 miles per hour. Then, a chance of rain tonight with a low of 34. Winds will shift to the northwest at better than 40 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis says southwest winds will become strong this afternoon. Sustained wind speeds will be between 25 and 30 miles per hour. Gusts will be between 45 and 50 miles per hour. Humidity is also likely to at least 25% during the afternoon, possibly as low as 15%, leading to dangerous burning conditions.
Also, a few thunderstorms may develop east of the Mississippi River this afternoon between 1 pm and 5 pm, threatening 60 miles per hour winds.
